Contact Release
Course Schedule
Self-Paced Online Learning Course
Course Description
The Contact Release self-paced online learning course is for people who work on or around electric vehicles. This course provides information on how to perform Contact Release on an electric shock victim. Contact Release is ideally performed by a Qualified Person wearing High Voltage Personal Protective Equipment (HVPPE) and using a rescue hook, but accidents do not always occur in the ideal situation. Correctly responding in an accident is proven to save lives and reduce the severity of injuries.
Taking this course fulfills annual Contact Release training certification for many workplaces. In this course, you will:
- Explain Contact Release
- State the goals of a successful Contact Release
- Describe a person who requires Contact Release
- List items that can be used to perform Contact Release
- Recall the three steps in a Contact Release
- Explain how to perform a Contact Release
Course Benefits: If a person is electrically shocked and is unable to release themselves from the source of current, they need help. A successful Contact Release saves the life of the shock victim without harming the rescuer. The quick reference guide can be downloaded from Resources or made available as a printed and bound guide to distribute to participants or maintenance shops.
Compliance: Mechanics are required to pass this course annually. Non-Mechanics have the option to take this course before the initial instance of the High Voltage Awareness course, but it is not mandatory. Non-technicians are required to pass this course annually thereafter.
