Self-Paced Online Learning Course

Course Description

This course examines high-voltage hazards and provides information on how to prevent accidents. Participants will learn about the ratings and categories of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and gain the information they need to stay safe in a high-voltage environment.

This course is based on principals from OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70Estandards and guidelines.

In this course, you will:

  • Describe electrical injuries
  • Explain the training of an Aware Person
  • Recall the three types of approach boundaries
  • Identify PPE items in different categories
  • Understand the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Zero Voltage Verification (ZVV) procedures
  • State the three steps in a Contact Release
  • Describe the high-voltage components on a bus
  • List the visual cues used to identify the presence of High Voltage

Course Benefits: Participants will gain an understanding of high-voltage hazards and how to prevent accidents. Participants will learn how to determine the proper PPE to use and how to stay safe within the approach boundaries.

Compliance: Mechanics are required to pass this course every 3 years. If significant changes are made to the content, the course will be required sooner than the 3-year mark.
