Rolando Cruz

Rolando began his career in public transportation in 1995 as the Finance Manager at Long Beach Transit and three years later went to Maintenance to become the Fleet Maintenance Manager.  In January 08, he was named Executive Director and Vice President of Maintenance and Infrastructure.  In November 2016, Rolando joined the City of Santa Monica Big Blue Bus as the Chief Operations Officer. And now, he is the Chief Transportation Officer (CTO) of Culver City.  As the CTO he is responsible for City Bus as well as other City Mobility Services including paratransit, e-scooter / e-bike share and  City Fleet.  

With over 20 years of experience in fleet and facilities maintenance and directly working with our founder and his mentor Jim Ditch, Rolando has been a strong advocate of the consortium from day one. The training of our current workforce, building the new workforce and staying on top of new technology are all motivators for his return to the board in 2020.  Rolando previously served on the board from 2008 to 2016 and is now serving as the consortium treasurer.  

Rolando is a CPA and holds a M.B.A. and a Bachelors in Accounting from the University of Texas. He is a graduate of the APTA leadership program in 2008 and is involved in multiple committees with American Public Transportation Association and California Transit Association. He currently teaches classes with the National Transit Institute on Transit Asset Management and Safety Management Systems.
